On a recent visit to Israel, our cousin, Elie Lederman introduced us to a special project in Israel, called, “HaBayit Shel Benji”. As Elie is the Chairman of the organisation, he was able to give us a personal guided tour of the amazing home that has been built in Ra’anana for Lone combat Soldiers serving in the Israeli Defence Forces.
Each year, thousands of young men and women from all parts of the world, leave their families and homes, in order to live in Israel while they complete their voluntary army service with the IDF.
HaBayit Shel Benji is a warm, inviting and friendly place that offers the simple comforts of a “family home” for these Lone soldiers while on leave from the army.
There are presently over 6,000 Lone soldiers serving in the IDF :
- who don’t have any family in Israel;
- who don’t have a family home to go to on weekends;
- who don’t have a parent to wash their laundry, make them a meal, or just give them a hug;
HaBayit Shel Benji was established in order to give a little comfort to these brave Lone soldiers.
We decided to add this project to our list of “exceptionally worthwhile causes” we wish to support, and we invite you to join us in supporting HaBayit Shel Benji.
