“Bikes4All” is a unique project through which the Israel Cycling Federation has established dozens of cycling clubs for children and youth across Israel over the past decade. The main goal is to allow children of all sociological, ethnic and religious backgrounds to experience and enjoy cycling while learning to appreciate the country and its nature, developing social skills, improving physical fitness, helping others, and developing a sense of empowerment.
The project was established in 2008 and currently includes 80 active clubs and 2,500 young cyclists. The club’s children aged 10-18 meet once a week for a two-hour ride led by a certified coach. Five times a year they participate at national cycling events where they meet children for other clubs. Additionally, once a year they participate in a cycling camp that includes 2 overnight stays.
The project’s uniqueness
● It allows thousands of children and youth mainly from poor and at-risk communities to experience cycling and while acquiring the positive values it encompasses
● It contributes to peaceful coexistence between youth and children from all religions and sectors of Israeli society. The project includes clubs for Jewish, Bedouin, Muslim, Christian, Druze and other children and youth.
