Lev Bagalil – Hayogev

In recent years many farms in the Galilee have closed, and thousands of farmers have had to stop working their land since this has become uneconomical. In addition to the lack of manpower willing to work in agriculture, the government has authorised a great deal of imported produce from overseas and additional reforms in water policy that make it difficult for farming to survive.

The “HaYogev” Project was established in order to help the Galilee’s farmers to remain on their land and preserve them. This is accomplished through a unique leadership project that empowers young people that are employed by the farmers to work in agriculture in the Galilee. In this project’s framework, work groups come together for professional training and practical work. In this program, the morning hours are set aside for working in the fields and orchards of farmers needing help and the afternoon and evening are dedicated to classes on leadership, personal identity as well as workshops on various topics.
