Revitalising the Heart of Kibbutz Nir Oz. Help us bring life, hope and prosperity to the community by restoring its soul.

For over 60 years, Kibbutz Nir Oz has symbolised resilience and environmental innovation in Israel’s Western Negev. Founded in 1955, its pioneers planted trees before building homes, placing the land at the heart of community life. On October 7, Nir Oz was devastated, suffering one of the highest losses of life and infrastructure: 117 of its 384 members were murdered or abducted and 97% of its homes were destroyed. Today, rebuilding is underway. Families are returning, homes are being restored and new life is emerging. This project supports the restoration, rehabilitation and expansion of the Botanical Gardens of Nir Oz, a vital place of healing, hope and renewal at the centre of the community’s recovery.

As events unfold in Iran and across the Middle East, JNF Australia stands firmly and proudly with Israel.

After weeks of uncertainty, Israel awoke on Shabbat morning to the sound of sirens. Families across the country moved swiftly to safe rooms and shelters as missiles targeted civilian areas.

Lives have been lost with many more injured, including young children. Schools and workplaces remain closed as communities brace for continued tension.

At this pivotal moment, we reaffirm our unwavering support for the people of Israel , their safety, their resilience and their right to live securely in our ancestral homeland.

For over a century, JNF has strengthened Israel’s land and communities, transforming challenge into growth and vision into reality.

Our commitment is constant – to ensure Israel’s future is secure, vibrant and thriving – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Tonight, as Purim begins, we are reminded that the Jewish story is one of survival and courage. In ancient Persia, the Jewish people faced a decree of annihilation and prevailed.

Across generations, we have confronted those who sought our destruction, and each time we have rebuilt, renewed and risen stronger.

Israel’s spirit remains unbreakable. Its people continue to show extraordinary courage, unity and determination in the face of adversity.

We pray for the safety of Israel’s citizens, for those defending the nation, for the freedom of the Iranian people, and for a new era in the Middle East – one shaped by security, stability and enduring peace.

JNF Australia will continue its vital work, ensuring that Israel’s land and people flourish for generations to come.

Chag Purim Sameach – together in unity, together in strength.

CARING FOR THE LAND OF ISRAEL SINCE 1901

The Jewish National Fund (JNF) was founded by Theodor Herzl in 1901 in order to create a Jewish Homeland and ensure its ongoing sustainability. Since then the JNF has continued to enable a thriving State of Israel, developing forests, communities, reservoirs, eco-trails and sustainable agriculture all over the country, with a focus today on strengthening its periphery, particularly in the Negev.
