JNF Women's Breakfast 2012
On Wednesday 22 August 2012 more than 350 JNF Women attended the hugely successful JNF Women’s Breakfast.
Dr Azita Moradi, a Melbourne psychiatrist originally from Iran, spoke about how stress is good for you. Tony Lubofsky, Project Director at the Royal Children’s Hospital provided insight into the ability of environmental design and nature to improve and expedite patient healing.
At the breakfast, JNF Women chose to support a truly inspirational project in Israel. The women combined their passion with JNF’s expertise in the environment, to transform the lives of ill children and their families by contributing to the Jack and Robert Smorgon Families’ Foundation Healing and Environmental Gardens at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. The healing gardens will provide a natural hospice for children from all backgrounds suffering from chronic disease. The gardens represent a quantum leap in the method used to treat these young people. They will include a boardwalk, maze, vegetable patch, flower arcade and purpose-built play spaces, all designed to enhance feelings of peace and tranquility, to encourage physical activity and positive thinking and stimulate the healing process.
The power of women joining together to make a difference was symbolically represented in a wonderful piece of art created by everyone who attended on the day. Under the supervision of esteemed artist Esther Erlich, the women created a masterpiece depicting JNF’s role in the development of a sustainable Israel and its community, moving from the past and into its future.
The painting is now hanging in JNF Victoria’s offices and we invite you all to pop in and see it.
